Donsol, Sorsogon
Donsol is by far the most popular town in our province, Sorsogon. It has rise to fame because of the migratory whalesharks that thrives on the planktons present in the sea of Donsol. It is closer to Albay than the rest of Sorsogon. The dialect it speaks is very similar to that of Albay rather than the Waray influenced dialect in Sorsogon. Before the commercialization of whalesharks watching, it is a very sleepy town. Even until now, when the season is off, it is a very sleepy town still. To Sorsoganons, it is known for the seafoods like fish and prawns sold at rock bottom prices, not the whalesharks
For tourism to thrive, there has to be other ways to keep the tourist from coming in aside from the grandstanding marine life. They have started the firefly watching in the river. The Donsol river looks very wide and is very similar to Loboc. Many activities can be done. The sea is very calm but I dont see kayaks or banana boats. There is the potential in this place. For almost a decade that it has reached the newspapers and travel magazines all over the world, how come investments are not coming in?
