Galeria Perdana, Langkawi, Malaysia

Galeria Perdana is the hidden treasure of Langkawi. It is a museum inside a mosque, dedicated to the former Prime Minister Mahathir. For a Catholic like me who has never set foot in a mosque before, I was so amazed. It is so beautiful inside especially the ceiling. This picture is one of its ceiling centerpieces.

Galeria Perdana is far from the beach, we made a stopover here just to kill time because our flight out of Langkawi is still at night time. If I had known, we would have made it our first stop and stayed there for half a day, not just an hour. What really caught my attention inside the museum are the gem paintings that were given as gifts from the Myanmar government. These are all set in small frames but made everything out of gems to form a scenery. Amazing.
